I don't think returning the stones is a thing, I think they will leave that be. Chris didn't sign on for more Cpt. America so I don't see that coming.

But acting like returning the stones is all that has to happen! The mind stone was in a staff and the space stone was in a cube. They break those and pull out the stone, they can't put them back. That changes things a lot. Tony was researching the staff it was Ultron that SOMEHOW new there was a stone in there and that he could use it for something. Ultron broke the staff, now there is no staff suddenly and old Tony/SHIELD is supposed to know the stone is the same thing? WTF.
Does it bother anyone else that the space stone provided power to those hydra weapons and the Power Stone possessed Thor's girlfriend? How does that make any sense at all?
And what the hell did the soul stone do besides cause two people to die irrevocably.

They must have had a flow charted for this and then just given up. "Fuck this it's way too hard to figure this out." They should have stopped themselves and called Kieth or Mike Lawrence, it would have been fixed in an hour. Fuck Ironman I'm glad he's dead. He deserved it after the climax in Ironman 3
