Reading the Wiki of Watchmen, where it's noted it "will be a 2009 film adaptation of Alan Moore's twelve-issue Hugo Award-winning comic book limited series Watchmen, directed by Zack Snyder."

I'm torn on seeing this one but the Wiki description of the production makes it seem good:

Quote:
Snyder said of his plans for filming Watchmen: "There are so many easter eggs in the frames (of the comic) so you want that level of detail in the movie itself." Similar to his approach to 300, Snyder used the comic book as a storyboard, travelling with a copy and annotating its pages. As well as the novel, Snyder cited Taxi Driver as a visual influence.
And it looks like they're gonna cgi Dr. Manhattan. Billy Crudup's playing him, providing the motion capture, I like Crudup. Have ever since I saw him in Stoppard's Arcadia. (Blew me away, in fact. Bought tickets that very day to see it again. Caught him in Bus Stop and The Elephant Man, too. Elephant was great - sad to see it had such a short run.)

Thing is, I don't want my vision, albeit drawn from the very graphics of the novel, to be tainted by the movie.

I am not active on their forum (as you can see from my low postcount here I am not good at that sort of stuff) but I regularly check the blog and the podcast.

Some of the actors are way too young to be playing the roles they've been given. The Nite Owl actor is too pretty. The woman playing Sally Jupiter (who has to at least be in her sixties) is only 36. They have a stupid little blonde whore playing Laurie Juspeczyk. The actress playing her is only seven years younger than the woman playing her mother! I'm sick to death of how young all the female actors have to be, no matter how old their character is.

Read up to Chapter IV so far...I'm really liking it. I had forgotten most of it in the past 7 years. I'm intrigued by the mysteries in the book and outside of the book...I started checking out the Wiki page for House of Leaves, but then stopped when I realized there were probably spoilers in there.

In any case, I'm excited.

Yes American Gods was a great book loved it. Another one to think about is Wheel of Time, long but reading.

I would love to, but this is a really bad week for me to start a book. So, I will have to join in on the next selection.

I'm in if the library has it. I always wanted to read it after I saw Poe perform with her brother reading from his book.
