Sounds like a loose connection to me. Most likely your keyboard since you got that error first. The again it might be your monitor. You might have bumped the desk or something.

Like Kay' I'm guessing monitor/vid card issues. He mentioned some keyboard stuff, but one at a time. Reinstalling windows is a last ditch==1/2 hour or more process==and I'm guessing really not the issue. |

In any case, though I don't think it's related, open up the case and clean all the heatsinks and fans. If you have had your computer for a long time and have never done this, your computer will overheat eventually as the heatsinks can't dissipate their heat fast enough.

Alright, now first let me preface this with the fact that I don't know much about fixing computers, but I think the long beep in the beginning is an indicator of a video card/monitor problem. So, if I were you, I'd open up the case and just check to make sure the video card was plugged in completely to the motherboard. |

if it's strictly used for downloading, i still think it's best to run a quick antivirus on it, since it sounds like there's been no maintenance. completely unrelated to the video problem, though...

What a geek fest
Speaking in binary and hex to Michaelapproved got me in the mood to see this foreign comedy clip (the joke is over in about 30 seconds-but lasts 2 minutes- and it's subtitled... you HAVE to be a geek to enjoy it... I liked it) |
