I just watched his dvd Demetri Martin. Person. a couple of days ago. I thought the stand-up bits were hilarious (and I enjoyed him on The Daily Show also), but his music was just annoying. I was also heavily reminded of Mitch Hedberg, which I don't mind at all.

Watched Demetri Martin's new show first episode, pretty hit and miss... seemed like a cross between Steve Martin and Mitch Hedberg.
Steve Martin did the original sketch on "timing" time-ing... etc... Mitch Hedberg's peculiar observations and timing seem almost ripped off here. Eh it wasn't horrible but I definitely got the feeling he was really ripping off these two comedians. |

I was pretty disappointed w/ the first episode...I've liked him for a few years now and was looking forward to watching it...but the show just wasn't that funny. If you're familiar with his standup (which is pretty identical to what he does on the show, with all his pictures and music), the humor on the show just seemed like he was trying too hard and fell short. I didn't think the sketches were funny at all. I'm still gonna watch and maybe I'll change my mind about it.
