I wish Halloween was more common in Australia - I may be 28 but if it suddenly became popular I'd be dressin up too. Think I'm going to a birthday/house warming/halloween party on the 30th so that'll have to do.

I'm being a undead (or should it be dead?) geisha. The bf's band is trying to get a zombie prom / show going but they're having a hard time finding a location. We'll wind up going to our default bar...

What I did with a costume similar to that last year is I found a Gaelic queen costume (overall ugly, but had decent pieces to it - plus it was on clearance). I cut it about mid-thigh and put a chiffon skirt (Hot Topic has them in black and white) under it to puff it out. I also cut the sleeves off. I kept the gold fairy-like belt to it because the bodice had gold in it. I got fishnet gloves and tights, and high green heels to go with the green costume elements. I got a witch hat and added elements of green to it - NOT GLITTER! It looks like an Oz-inspired witch when it all came together. The idea is similar to what you see below, but since my legs are not as long, it doesn't look as trashy. Hot Topic can be your best friend for ways to take elements to change up a costume.

Because I go to renaissance faires and have a lot of pieces there too, I took one of my fancier bodices and added fairy wings and one of those HT chiffon skirts, along with fishnets and ballet slippers a couple of years ago. Because I had the wrong shirt on with it it looked more like a Bavarian bar maid with wings, but with the right shirt, or no shirt under it, it would have been the right look.
