yeah, that is the best. i can do a 7:38 pace ( plus or minus a few tics, it's hard to run breathe and read the screen all at the same time) where everyting is flowing and i'm just eating up the pavement. then after about 35 feet it all falls apart and i go back down to a mserable 9:30 pace.

Back on topic so I don't get banned or have Spooky yell at me... ![]() I don't run. It hurts my knees. But I can jam on an eliptical machine like nobody's business! Kudos to all of you that do. You get one of the best workouts possible in one motion. Where is The Godfather? He runs marathons. |

Listening to Chemda reminds me of when I started. It's inspiring. I've been going out and taking walks at night with a few 1/4 mi jogs thrown in, since she started talking about in on the show. I need to do something even if I can't run any more. I'm wearing an extra 35lbs since I stopped.
I started when I was 29 after doing a 12 week BFL. My second year I finished a half marathon in just under two hours. I was never terribly speedy. I ran a couple 10k's and my pace wasn't much better than the HM. Around 9 min was a good pace for me, but I always felt great when I got my stride. I tried the marathon but my intestines couldn't take it. I nearly shit myself at about 15 miles, literally (and continued having shits for over 24 hours after the event). I was saved by a conveniently located port-o-john. I fucked up my hip at work and running causes too much pain now. I envy you people who can do it forever. I don't think I lasted three years. I think you are more likely to be able to take the beating if you start young. When I started I pushed myself harder than I should have. I used to train with a local club on Saturdays in the park. There were guys in that club in their 60s with no difficulty keeping a 9 min pace. |
