I would not recommend "self medicating" with any prescription meds or OTC drugs (like Tylenol cold) unless the dentist tells you. Any medication they give you is based on your weight and could have serious reactions with anything else you are taking. Have them prescribe something to you in advance (like vallium) to take the edge off. That way they know what you're on when they get you in the chair.

People die from taking drugs (legal and illegal) and not disclosing them to a DR before a procedure involving anathetics/narcotics/etc.

Okayy folks...thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it. I downloaded the 74 hour podcast to listen to. They are going to give me vallium and also nitrous gas. I don't have a ride home so I'm gonna try driving...that or I will crash in the car for a bit. Still nervous as balls though.

We have ample stocks of Diazempam at work. It's not that good.. the tablets nor the injections make any difference when mixed with weed.

I dont know why people make such a big deal about root canals. The only part that hurts is the bill.
If it hurts during a root canal, they didnt give you enough Novocain or time enough for it to work.
Root canals are fun cause you get to go home with a bottle of percoset or vicodin
It really is no big deal

It's not so much a fear of root canals as it is a phobia of dentists in general. Irrational yes...but really not much I can do about it.

Fuck, I never got percocet or vicodin, and I've had many (yeah, I had a few dental problems)

All I got was tons of local anesthesia that made me look like I had a decent stroke for a day.

They only give you a small amount afterward, but you should get something as far as a narcotic
