New Comic Book Hero

I heard about this through one of my other podcasts and I hope this isn't old news. Link below to the news article.

Aside from the obvious silliness, does anyone else see the weirdness in a hero with flight and super-strength using his power to stop... circumcision? As opposed to, say, robberies, or assaults, or murders?

You want your child to look normal when he grows up. EVIL DOER!!!

I love it only took two issues to get to the blatant anti-Semitism . (yes I read both of them, and i will definitely be keeping my eye out for three)

Comic books normally reflect serious world issues and problems. It trips me out someone chose this as serious issue that is plaquing the world.

Is there a way to say that you don't believe that anyone should circumcise their sons without sounding anti-Semitic?

It's not racism when I have trouble believing that your imaginary friend wants you to cut pieces off your kids junk, and that we should all let you because, you know... God.

I started, but it was so crap. I looked at the character list, and it's for sure anti-Semitic. Like, this guy's a mega douche.

But it is weird that people who don't believe in circumcision are kind of expected to say things like "mutilating your baby is wrong, yea... unless God says you should, of course." It's not that I think Jews are silly specifically, but they're the only ones cutting baby dick in the name of the lord (actually some Muslims do too if I'm not mistaken). I'd rather religious types just stick to psychological damage, I mean, if they have to damage their children at all, which they seem to have to do*

*but don't we all, in one way or another?

Here's the thing: it's a minor medical procedure with some benefits and some risks.

Parents authorize a ton of similar things for their kids, for a ton of reasons, usually influenced by personal knowledge and beliefs.

The notion that circumcision is mutilation on par with other practices just isn't supported by evidence, so while you may not like it I think simply expressing that you wouldn't do it to your kids is the appropriate behavior in this situation.

Parents are doing way more damage to their kids in other ways, anyway. I doubt you'd approach an adult and scold them for letting their kid get fat, so I think the same amount of "none of my business" applies here.

I had no idea children needed so many pieces cut off before they could come home with you.
