This is a guide to put a custom KATG title bar on your iPod video.
I think this will also work on the iPod Photo, but the title bar pic is smaller i guess.
I made just 2 title bars to start out with. But feel free to make your own.

This a Windows tutorial, i don't have a Mac so i can't help out with that, sorry.

Soon we will decide on a icon, currently we have 1 person working on the icon, the more we have the better the variety, props to jbstingray and Dustin for working on this.

Now an update to iPod wizard X development

• The GUI is getting there with most of the 1.2 features added to it, by that I mean I have designed the fields and created classes and linked them but they dont have code yet. - (Shunnabunich: I'm gonna PM you a new version of the .nib and see what you think)
• There is next to none coding except for one classic have written and tested it a bit (Getting the name of an iPod) Tech Note: Some times when I tested it with longer than 25 Character iPod Names it would cut the name short but that might just be the length of the field

If that doesn't work, you Mac users are assed the fuck out. Get a Windows PC, or Linux.

I'm guessing the same rules apply for your MacPod.

Make sure you have all your music backed up before you start modding.
There's almost no way of fucking up your iPod unless you do something stupid that's not in the instructions.

If something goes wrong, DON'T worry, chances are it's not that big a mistake. There is also a restore option incase you fuck up... badly.

PS. By modding your iPod, you are VOIDING your contract or whatever. But if you use the restore option, it will go back to factory settings and they won't find out

To make your own Title bars, use this, it's a free alternative to Photoshop CS2: Paint.NET

I guess i can take some requests for title bars, aswell.

If you want to change the color of your volume bar then get both of these 2 pics also:

Step 2

Open up iTunes and plug in your iPod to your computer.

Once you do, in iTunes it should say updating ipod.



Just click that little X button.

Then, if your using iTunes 7 (New), then go to the iPod window, if your aren't there already, and scroll down. Check the "Enable disk use" button and hit "Apply".

If you have an older version of iTunes you can enable
disk mode under "preferences" and then "iPod".

Once you are done, minimize iTunes, you won't need it anytime soon.

Step 3

Install iPodWizard. Unzip the .zip to your desktop.

Then open up the iPodWizard program (.exe).

Once you got it open, you can check if you got your ipod connected right by looking where it says: "iPodWizard Essentials" it should show your iPod's drive letter. (ex. G: Chris' iPod)

Then go to "Edit Mode" and check "iPod", then click "Load iPod Firmware"

Once you click that, DO NOT open any other windows, if you do, the program will freeze and you will have to start over.

Step 4

Ok, now i need some info here.

If you HAVE updated your iPod to the latest version (You updated your ipod when you installed iTunes 7)

Where it says Pictures, find "Index" then search for number "266"
You should be able to see the silver title bar.

If you want the full list of image numbers for the new firmware look here

If you HAVE NOT updated your iPod to the latest version (You Haven't updated your iPod since like.. June?)

Do the same as above but find "228" and you should see the silver title bar.

For the Nano, the title bar number is: 171 and the volume bar number is 148

Now, once you find the pic, click on "Load Bitmap" and find the new picture that your going to use for your title bar.

When your done changing the pic, you should see the new title bar.

Next to where it says "Firmware Information" click on "Write"

Don't open any windows or the program will freeze, and you'll have to start over.

When it's done you should get a confirmation message saying it's done.

Go back to iTunes and eject the iPod.

Your iPod will show a black screen and then the white Apple logo, this means it's restarting.

If you did everything correctly you should now see the your new KATG title bar.

Extras

If you want to change your volume bar using the new pics posted in the begining of this thread, then do the same you did to change your title bar but find the number for the volume bar picture.

If you updated your iPod recently, when you get to number 3 do this:

3. Click on the Index Drop-Down Menu, and select #1.

If you have not updated your iPod recently then just follow the directions on the page.

Ect.If you made your own title or iPod graphic post it here and it will be added.

ALSO: If someone can make a 100x100 picture of Brumski and another that's No Brumski so you can use it for the "Do Not Disconnect" and "Ok To Disconnect" pictures, it would be very much appreciated.
