Looks like we got ourselves a reader...

Are you a KATG-er that likes to read? Please share!

1. What is your current favourite book?:

Mine is Room, by Emma Donoghue

2. A few authors you recommend:

*Tim Winton
*Janet Frame
*Alain De Botton
*Margaret Atwood
I also love the Beats, particularly Burroughs and Kerouac.

The last couple of series I went through and LOVED was The Song of Ice & Fire series by George RR Martin and the Millennium series by Stieg Larsson. I don't have a favorite author but I do keep coming back to Poppy Z. Brite's books and I've loved everything I've read so far.

I'm not really a fiction guy, it's entertaining, but nothing specific sticks out in my mind.

There are several nonfiction books that noticeably changed my conception of the world. They're all pretty challenging reads.

1. GEB (reading it is a pretty monumental undertaking. Intense nerds only.)
2. The Selfish Gene (the book's thesis is not how the title sounds. It's not about genes for selfishness. I haven't studied much bio, so this was pretty eye opening)
3. Guns, Germs, and Steel (again, the book's thesis is not the title.)
4. The Concept of Mind
5. Practical Programming for Strength Training

I don't think nearly enough people have read Watership Down. One of my fav books of all time.

I just finished Ringworld by Larry Niven. Solid read if you havent checked it out yet.

I read comics. I just get whatever I can get and request through the NY public library.

I just finished JSA: The Liberty Files. It was shit.

I'm currently reading Jack Kirby's The Demon. It's an omnibus of the history of the Demon Etrigan.

Watership Down is great. I had to read it in eighth grade but by the time we were a quarter through the book I was hooked. What a scary book.

Also, I just finished Scott Sigler's new book, Nocturnal, as well as Michael Ian Black's new memoir, both of which I highly recommend. Currently reading Angelmaker by Nick Harkaway which is funny and weird as hell.

Favorite book of all time - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Fucking brilliantly written.

Right now I'm reading "Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void by Mary Roach. I recommend anything by her. She writes great non fiction books about odd topics, like what happens to a body after it's donated to science.
