I don't believe in karma, gods, psychic powers, reincarnation, etc.
I don't believe my life has any meaning. Meaning is something we assign ourselves. As with the billions who have died before us, their story - their meaning - is lost to the cosmos. But for the traces some of them have left behind through reproduction or matter, they may as well not have existed. If the earth blows up tomorrow the galaxy won't notice. No meaning lost. I am matter that has achieved self awareness and one day I will no longer be. My family and loved ones are in the same boat. What is amazing is that through chance we exist at all. And I, for one, am damn glad we do. I give meaning to my loves and that's good enough for me. Love each and every day and forgive others their trespasses, not as we would ask them to forgive ours but with greater empathy and love.

Maybe I should ride my vaccuum...
Really though, it's not like that at all. At least, I just live and work, work to live like everyone else. I just don't live by the bible doctrine...and what I do, makes sense to me. It doesn't involve others, and I don't conjure and do spells up the ying yang...wouldn't that be nice if it worked like that! |

Agnostic dad, non-committed preb mom, devout catholics on mother's side, atheist brother. I like Buddhism, but you didn't have Taoism. Actually though, technically Buddhism is not a religion, it is a way of conducting your life.

My mom was raised catholic. I grew up Lutheran and left that farm when they told me God put dinosaur bones in the ground to make us think there used to be dinosaurs. Don't know what my dad believes.
Now, I am a very bad Evangelical. I sin a lot. I hate people a lot. But, I do think there is more to the bible and how the universe works than mere chance. Maybe some day I will grow up and be a good lickmyballssuckmy, but for now, I'm just antagonistic. |

I've seen that. One of the coolest reasons for that is the difference in the ten commandments.
Catholics threw out the second commandment and busted the tenth into two commandments (9 and 10). Or Christians did the opposite. How ever you look at it.. Christians I know point at things like that to demonstrate that the Catholic Church is no more than a cult that makes up it's own rules. Me? I don't think it's right to go around telling other people what's right and wrong. Everybody needs to choose what works for them. http://www.positiveatheism.org/crt/whichcom.htm My favorite person in the whole world is a Wiccan and she told me about some kind of full moon ritual where they all dance naked in the light of the moon or something. Since I was seeing her naked at the time, I didn't give it a second thought. Now that she is marrying somebody else, I'd consider converting just to see her naked again. And I'm only kidding a little bit. ![]()
