I think I can beat that. In my Sociology class (210?) our Prof. put in a "foreign" film that ended up being a rape/porn movie. After class he said the reason he did that was to see how we would react as a group! Total weirdo but I stayed for the whole thing so I guess I am slightly strange myself. No one reported it to the chair of department either so what does that say about us as a class?

I get that some of the examples could sound ridiculous (like studying life on an internet simulation rather than through real interviews), but i guess that somehow a teacher that tries to keep the interest of his students alive, by using teaching methods or adrressing issues and materials outside of old, stale, boring books, should be appreciated and rewarded. Of course there are limits, but if you have to get a kid's attention, sometimes you need to do unconventional stuff.

The reason why you can write about stupid shit like Harry Potter in college is because it's not what you're writing about, it's how you write about it that counts. You can write your paper on Ulysses by James Joyce (arguably one of the most difficult pieces of psudo-intellectual, academic drivel ever produced) but if you're not making legitimate claims and backing them up with evidence you find in the text, than it's shit either way.

In academia, the book you read has some sort of credit, but that's the only place. Everywhere else you're going to have to use your source material in order to prove your point. Points that may be: why I deserve a raise, why I think our office should invest in a new projector, why your company needs to invest in our company, why it's important to not flush sanitary napkins, why I should head this project, why it's not a good idea to lay me off-even if it might look like one.

Fucked and also terrible. Wont say it's a rape/porn movie though. Most of the movie is shaky cam and ugly french people babbling idiotic stuff. Then there's the 10 minute (i guess, i ffwd through it. IMDB says it's ten minutes) rape scene.

But if i wanted to shock my class i'd go for some japanese freaky stuff or august underground.
