Fun show! I loved the Edinburgh festival talk, I had a few friends working at it this year and they tell me how great it is. I'll definitely try to make it next year, sounds amazing.

About the catcalling, I don't know any girl that likes it or takes it as a compliment (granted it's not a usual discussion topic) but the whole thing is uncomfortable and Chemda's right about it making you feel self-conscious. The building across the street from my work was getting renovated last year, it was so annoying walking past it going to and from the office everyday. I found myself involuntarily holding my breath anytime I did. I probably should have grown some balls and said something

Costaki truly is a lovely guest- usually I find male naivety about sexual harassment infuriating, but somehow from him, it seemed earnest and almost cute.

So when the bartender asks the person buying if they are getting all the drinks, they are putting that choice in someone else's hands. Now it's your choice, and it's basically out of the bar tenders hands. If you say no, you're not buying that person's drink, your the asshole. If the bartender has to tell the person that you said you're not buying their drink, you're still the asshole. It's an easy way for the bartender to stay out of the conflict. I'm not saying it's right, just the way it is. Most people like to avoid conflict so by making someone else the asshole, the bartender can stay out of it and continue to get tips.
I work at a bar as a cocktail waitress and we're told not to take money laying out in front of you. Even though, everyone knows it's your tip, it's considered rude to just snatch it up while the client is still standing there. I've probably lost a few tips by leaving them on the table too long, but it's better than the alternative of you accidentally taking someone's change that wasn't meant for you.

I have done the same thing behind the bar. Most of the time the clients will make it obvious that it's a tip by pushing it towards you, or pushing it to the rail. If there was any doubt about it being a tip or not I would leave it on the bar until they left.

This. Also, it doesn't even appear to be about trying to get a specific girl to go out with them, because I can be walking on the sidewalk and a guy will yell something incoherent out his car window as he drives by, and then that's the end of it. For some of the guys who do it, it seems more like an effort to just put you in your place by rating your fuckability.

Somebody posted this video in a blog that I read and I thought it was hilarious. This is an extreme exaggeration, but I have had guys follow me around like this. One guy chased me across my apartment complex parking lot to ask for my number after I'd seen him chatting up another woman at the bus stop when I got off the bus. He was shocked that I said no thanks. I think he honestly had no clue that he came across as sleazy, and a little creepy.

One question

Are male sports reporters even allowed into the WNBA locker rooms?
Equality is fine but it has to be equal. I'm willing to bet that a male in the ladies room would get harassed even more.

Yes males are allowed in the WNBA locker room. But why would they ever want to go?

I'm rarely cat-called at. Maybe because I live in LA, and I do basically no walking around, except on the beach.

I was wondering if there would be cat-calling when I went to NY since there's so much more walking and train riding involved, but I got nothing.

I have noticed that guys hit on me more since I started loosing weight. I think Chemda just needs to fatten up.
