It's not a scandal when it happens in India or Thailand, it's a part of normal life. We (in the Western World) just like to be scandalised about it, because it makes us feel more civilised and superior.

Old dudes fucking 16 year olds is just plain rapey to me. Puberty is irrelevant, maturity is pretty irrelevant too. 16 year old girls do not know how easily they can be manipulated and that just makes it fucking rapey to me.

Also, in a town just east of Kansas City there was a barbecue joint. It was shut down over and over (seemed like once a year) for health code violations. I've never had better barbeque. But if someone in there talked to me like an asshole, I'd probably never have gone back.
