I love a good poll

albi 12-11-2013 07:04 PM

I always find it a little weird when a guy is reading a men's mag like Ralph or FHM on the train, sitting there getting horny, having a good, lingering look at the centrefold...

I think Chemda is coming from a good place but I'm so glad my mum didn't introduce me to toys.

WSEIII 12-11-2013 07:27 PM

My first porn magazine purchase was Club. I remember it clearly because my hands were shaking while I was in line at the register. But I got over that. The first time I got busted I had two or three porn magazines under my bed. I later figured out that if I took the bottom drawer of my dresser out there was a place to stash my porn. I've since graduated to online porn and am trying to repent of this sin.

Chemda has a good idea but she should wait until her child is fifteen or sixteen when she can understand it better.

70's porn centerfold's bush - welcome to the jungle.

Keith 12-11-2013 07:35 PM

15 or 16 instead of 14?

You're the best.

I want to hear how you got busted and at what age.

Club was the good shit. You weren't a gentleman with Club.

And how are you trying to repent when you keep logging into porn? Put a blocker on yourself.

JSZilla 12-11-2013 08:43 PM

I liked American Horror Story season 1 alright, I wish they had done more with the Rubber Man. I couldn't deal with season 2, but I really wanted to like it, what with the slasher-like serial killer Bloody Face being in it. Not trying to add spoilers or anything. I couldn't dig it. I hope others can enjoy it. I however, have so far, REALLY enjoyed season 3 of AHS. Jessica Lange is fucking awesome all through out.
I kinda wanna hear more from Keith on this, he may have a hard time putting the show down if he gets invested enough. After Hellraiser 20 and he is still locked in....This could get funny. Especially if he ever starts hating it.

I'm almost curious if Almost Human and Sleepy Hollow (TV show) have been on the bucket list yet.

I'm rambling. Tits. Balls.

Edit: If Chemda is recommending dildos, like fucking ever, I will cry laughing if a rubber fist is ever brought into it to a child on learning how to pleasure one's self.

I LOVED season 1 of AHS. I was legitimately watching-through-my-fingers-scared through most of the last half of the season, and Jessica Lang is a goddamn fox. Season 2 got too rapey for me. A lot of the shock and gore seemed to be just for shock and gore's sake and didn't really add to the story.

So far loving season 3! I highly recommend 1 & 3 to Chemda. I hate hate hate scary movies, but the fantastic twisting plot with some jumpy/anxious moments dispersed through out makes it a really fun show. And gives you a good excuse to cuddle.

As for introducing daughters to
toys: as someone who improvised with a sonicare electric toothbrush from from the ages of 11-14, I can honestly say it took me a couple years to gain sensitivity back. I probably was a weird hypersexual kid, but I abused that makeshift vibe before I even knew what an orgasm was. Truth be told I got a little obsessive over it. That could be an unintended side affect of introducing a vibrator that early, but it did help me figure out that making myself feel good was a good thing, which in turn probably set me on the trajectory of being a very sex positive person.

I say have the pro masturabtion, sex positive talk at 12, mention then use of toys and the pros to learning about your own body, and then return to the topic in a few years and offer to buy a vibrator.

Sparrow 12-12-2013 01:32 AM

i saw my first playboy at 19. having grown up in an internet age, disappointing is the best way i can describe it.

Keith 12-12-2013 02:20 AM

It was for men to feel like men. I believe that's even on the cover: something or other for men.

It wasn't just about porn. It was the weakest of the porn magazines. But it was PLAYBOY.

emcmahon 12-12-2013 07:01 AM

Chemda I wonder if they even sold scissors at the airport before 9/11. Lol. Although the point was well made I think the fold and tear method would be a better suggestion :)

BrianAlt 12-12-2013 07:13 AM

Our daughter was borrowing ours. I said to my wife, what are we going to do about this? We had a small one that was a freebie from A&E. My wife gave it to her. Seems to have helped.

BrianAlt 12-12-2013 07:14 AM

Also, my friend was reading Maxim on a bus and a women started berating him for, "reading such filth."

flerchin 12-12-2013 09:36 AM

This fucking interpreter asshole is now saying he was suffering a schizophrenic break during the speech? Really dick bag? Go ahead and sign "schizophrenic" in your made up bullshit mockery of a language. Or just sign the ABCs, you fucking proficient motherfucker.

This is like if the Chinese language interpreter for the event was just yammering "ching chong ting tang fried rice Mandela. " Except it's worse than that because he doesn't know the sign for "Mandela."

Dean from Australia 12-12-2013 01:09 PM

Down Under, we are in the middle of a Royal Commission into the abuse of children in state care over the past several decades. It was Commission of Enquiry set up following the revelations of systematic heinous abuses perpetrated by clergy within the Catholic Church. As each day of hearings are completed, we hear more and more accounts of the horrible acts that were committed by these utter bastards so, when I see that Pope Francis has been anointed Time Magazine's Person of the Year, I just want to vomit.

The Catholic Church is a cult and it should be burned to the ground and it's clergy chased down and tortured for what they have done, what they have covered up and what they continue to inflict upon their flock.

They are cunts of the lowest order.

I think Chemda doesn't need to worry about prescribing a date to get her daughter a vibrator. I think if you live in a household that's open about sex and doesn't treat it like a taboo, that sort of thing comes a lot more naturally.

It's probably fine to have a talk about sex at 16 or so (probably one earlier too, of course), mentioning that there's nothing wrong with masturbation and then maybe broaching the topic of buying a vibrator. But it's a bit weird to show up on Sunday morning like "Hey, here's something to put up your vagina because mommy loves you."

Also, American Horror Story has a lot of great moments. It's really addictive, but it has some lows every season too. I like all the seasons so far. This current season started out amazing but is getting really weird with its race stuff now so I don't know, but the others are great.

This is like saying America should be burned down because it was built on the back of slavery and is still racially unjust. Let's celebrate progress where we see it, Jesus. The pope is saying, "hey, maybe we shouldn't hate the gays so much anymore" and you guys aren't saying thank god for progress? Progress is slow, but don't ignore it where it happens.

I mean, he's still the pope, but as far as popes go, he's not that bad. He certainly isn't "even worse" like Keith says.

Keith 12-12-2013 02:05 PM

I stand by my statement that he's even worse.

Amravanti 12-12-2013 02:28 PM

Naturally.

Quit trying to rationalize hate.

Either gay men and lesbian women are treated as human beings, with every right that others have; or not.

It's gross when liberals fall for this 'The Church is PC now' bullshit propaganda. Define shame. Define a sham. Get fucking real :D

Amravanti 12-12-2013 02:41 PM

Yeah, but that's not how it works. Nothing comes all at once. Let's try to have sense. I'm not saying be satisfied, but don't act like it's worse than ever. I'm not saying stop trying to change the Church (is anyone saying that? Why do you guys act like people are saying that?), but don't act like it isn't a step in the right direction.

By the way, I think the thing you're angry at is the government. State, not church. They're different. If the pope said "Hey everyone, there's nothing wrong with being gay" nothing would change for America. Bigots are bigots.

Enunciated Piffle 12-12-2013 02:49 PM

Disagree. On every level.

It sincerely amazes me when smart people allow themselves to be fooled. I'm an ex-Christian though. I get it. Once your brain is raped by a mind set - it's pretty hard to recover from the trauma.

Without derailing this forum with a million posts; I'm just going to reiterate it and be done. You are wrong. Still cute. Still have interesting posts. Just wrong with regards to religion.

That's ok. No one is perfect.

Amravanti 12-12-2013 02:54 PM

That was incredibly condescending of you, but at least I'm still cute.

Don't fucking get me started on Americans - and I love a good portion of them.

Amravanti 12-12-2013 03:50 PM

I can think of at least one more flaw. Too humble.

You and the pope have so much in common.

This is the worst insult anyone has ever given me.

I'm insulted, offended, impressed, and just slightly aroused. Cheers.

Sparrow 12-12-2013 05:25 PM

nobody's denying that the catholic church is full of sin, control, violence, and abuse. and, ya know, keith is right that the pope is not advocating a change in belief, BUT a change in conversation and behavior is long been needful for the catholic masses; the folks who aren't touching kids, ya know, the guy down your block or the nice family next door. they've been whipped into a political frenzy over these hot, controversial issues (on purpose for the churches agenda) and it's drowning out /everything/ else.

it would be nice if petitioning for a change in doctrine were easy, but it isn't, not even for a pope. there's a tornado of fists and razorblades over abortion, birth control, and homosexuality. to think a body could change the hearts of folks in that state is ridiculous; they can't hear.

i applaud his search for common ground and examples of humility. these are good things. being able to exist together despite our differences is a good message. it's not changing EVERYTHING AT ONCE! which would be a fruitless effort anyway, but reminding people to treat others a little more christ-like. maybe everybody's holding the same sticks they've always held, keith, but stopping beating each other with them is a good way towards putting them down.

Keith 12-12-2013 05:32 PM

You're being bamboozled.

lizsquiz 12-12-2013 05:38 PM

Surely a strategically abandoned masturbation issue of Cosmo or some other women's mag can enlighten your teenage daughter. If it's in your house, it's obvious to the daughter you read it and are okay with it. If it's left out on the kitchen bench, then it's nothing to be ashamed of. Let her educate herself without having to actively think of her mom jerking off.

Sparrow 12-12-2013 05:40 PM

maybe. i'm still young enough to be a little optimistic. i'm under no impression people will change their minds about anything, i would still like to see the lay person be less of an asshole.

Keith 12-12-2013 06:01 PM

The lay person takes their cues from somewhere; in this case the church that's telling them homosexuality is an abomination.

They would absolutely be able to change minds. In a heartbeat.

Sparrow 12-12-2013 06:14 PM

it's also now telling them you still have to treat them with dignity because christ would have done so. that little bit has been lost in all the screaming.

i disagree with your latter point entirely. deep change is a process.

But it does make for way less entertaining screaming about pedopriests though.

Lol. Gross!

My daughter is 11 and going through puberty. It's so weird. I don't want to be oppressive or close-minded but I am not going to talk to her about sex. It makes me physically sick just to think about it.

I told her mom, 'Look, you have the discussion and get her on birth control. I'll pay for the pill, I'll tell her how evil boys are, and I'll remind her that I will totally disown her if she gets pregnant in high school...

Love is very conditional. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

You know personal change is possible because you've experienced it. But did you experience it in a heartbeat?

HeyAnne 12-12-2013 08:59 PM

My daughter will be 9 in Jan. I will answer any questions she has honestly - she asked me what tampons were for about 2 years ago while we were in a CVS and I told her the truth, she fake fainted in the aisle but she at least got the truth.

Chemda used to talk about letting her daughter know that she didnt need to rely on a boy to make her feel all those good sexual feelings -- I think I will approach my daughter the same way. I already had the porn on the computer talk with my sons, ages 14 and 17. I didn't ban them, I just told them that if their sister would be able to accidentally access it, they should make sure they delete all links and history. Now they have their own laptops so it is not an issue. I just dont want to walk in on them - and so far so good.

I will take it as it comes and I have some ideas on how I will handle certain issues when they arise.

This is interesting. I think boys should be allowed to masturbate and not be shamed, but do you explain the negative effects of porn as well?

Nowadays, porn is a lot like weed. Back in the day, weed was mild and you got a little high. Now it is so potent you can experience psychosis and have a panic attack. Porn used to be a woman fucking a man. It was very mild and the woman had so much hair, you couldn't really see anything. Today, porn practically goes right up into the vuh-jay and doesn't stop until it hits uterus! Also, the gaping anal porn? OMG. That shit is vile.

I think when it comes to sexuality you want to be open but also maintain that 'parent' roll where you're warning them of the dangers. Masturbate, yes. You still gotta warn them that it affects how they view women, how they cope with stress, etc....right?

firstly, that first bit is terribly sexist towards men; a penis does not an evil boy make.

also you are a terrible father.
