I think it has to do with the tightness of the hug. If you start squeezing, I think most dogs will be uncomfortable. But I think the majority of dogs like a light hold where they don't feel trapped. Great Hugsy strip in the pics today. Shes adorable.

Mine do, but they're Boxers. Boxers have a habit of using their front legs like arms, they're always coming in to hug me. Besides, they're big, they could get free if they tried. But my parents have pugs, a min pin, and a toy poodle. The poodle and min pin hate hugs and the pugs generally like it. I think it has a lot to do with the breed.

My Italian greyhounds do the same, use their front legs like arms/hands. The throw their bodies into us hard as hell like they want to crawl inside of us. Totally fine with hugs. This breed likes to burrow though so that might have something to do with it.

Also, there's this product that's basically a hug dogs can wear that's supposed to calm them. Www.Thundershirt.com
