I've been wanting to send some solidarity to Chemda for days but I couldn't comment for some reason.

I'm in team Chemda regarding the picture/mess. As you say hysterical is historical but I find any criticism of my tidying very personal. Throughout my life I have felt like I'm failing as a female because I'm not tidy enough. Its been used by my parents, house mates and work colleagues over the years to dominate me, (my husband wouldn't dare )

Certain things I think go beyond gentle criticism and are tools for oppressing women and I think cleaning is one of them, I feel (and as I said its personal with me) that criticising general cleanliness is a form of coercive control, it belittles the person (and its normally a women on the receiving end)

In my experience women also use their extreme cleaning to assert dominance over other women by showing off about how much they clean.

Cleaning is great, I've been cleaning my lab all day, top to bottom with bleach and everything but the work I've done today with definitely attract the side eye of someone who thinks I should do better, cleaning is subjective (unless you're in hoarder territory).

Chemda mentioned how her parents made her feel and it struck a chord, I wasn't really commenting on the picture because I've not seen it, just the general pressure excerpted (I think I made up a word)Iparticularly on females to be super cleaners.

I’ve just looked at the picture, was looking for a trick but all I see is a table with some chairs and because it was mentioned on the podcast I see some joints and a grinder. If I work out how to take photographs I’ll show you what my kitchen looks like before I clean it.

By far one of the funniest episodes in a long time (the bar is pretty high) - my face hurt from grinning so hard, and I probably looked like a crazy person on public transit trying to stifle laughter resulting in weird breathing. Will definitely be one to hear twice!

So glad I found this thread! This Cyber Monday deal enabled me to get the nifty badge and pushed me to kick in (unintentional pun) to the Kickstarter. Been listening to the show since late August.

It was quite a trip how I even got here.
