Russel Brand was voted shagger of the year three times in a row in the early noughties.

I used to listen to his radio show and watch some of his YouTube videos but he has increasingly sided himself with fringe and right wing beliefs. We started watching the Dispatches program on Saturday night but turned it off as it went into graphic detail and I found it highly triggering.

I’m confused why his wife and two young daughters haven’t left him.

Money. I don’t know enough about her but since he is pretty famous worldwide I imagine it is finances. And if she ever decides to leave him which would be hard enough she would also have to deal with the paparazzi up her ass the entire time.

Might be tangentially related to Keith's "look into him" thing about rappers whose violent lyrics precede violent real life dust ups, but this Russell Brand thing isn't the first time I've had a bummed-but-not-surprised reaction to a comedian I've been a fan of being accused of being a sex pest and/or criminal.

I'd listened to hundreds of hours of both Chris D'Elia and Bryan Callen before they were called out, never previously suspecting they were abusers of any kind but being oddly non-shocked when they were accused. D'Elia's comedy already came with an air of sleaze and Callen was regularly called out (pre-accusations) by his comedy pals for being a chronic liar. Meanwhile, "Ol' Russ", who I've also listened to for hundreds of hours, as well as read his books, seen him live and whose Che Guevera style t-shirt is among my faves, has also said and written things over the years which hint that he might've been a sexual line-crosser.

I get it's not super meaningful to say this stuff in hindsight and it ain't cool to say who else I reckon might be in line for accusations of this type, so I'll go the opposite route and say I would actually be shocked AF if, say, Adam Carolla, Joe Rogan or Jordan Peterson ever find themselves in this particular firing line. By going on the record this way at least I'll be able to refer back here if there are ever any credible reports of any of them being sex deviants and know that my sex deviant radar was way off. Either that or I'll delete this post and pretend I knew all along.

Of course we have Jimmy Saville as our starting point for a tv personality who turned out to be a fucking monster.

Which in no way is it a competition or limits what RB has been doing. Also the tv program appears to be the tip of the iceberg.

And they have the clip of him talking to Jimmy Saville on the show. Russell was trying to be funny, but Jimmy sounded really into it. Was pretty gross.
