My maternal grandfather changed his last name for unknown reasons (well, unknown to me) so his kids are the only ones of all the cousins with a different last name. My paternal grandfather had his last name changed at Ellis Island in the 1930s. This is way to similar to the alleged Melnik/Malley situation and I don't know how I feel about that.

Ok.. so this has nothing to do with anything really except that I've been watching "I'll Be Gone in the Dark" on HBO.

Your dad had a lot of the traits of a serial killer. He was invasive about his work that caused him to travel, he abused his children, he had no friends or close family other than the kids that he ignored.

I honestly would research cold cases in Somerset. Father Malley is creepy AF.

The only thing deterring me from this theory is that he seems too lazy and dumb to be able to be a serial killer and not be caught. He can’t keep a story straight. He passes chores to other people. He loves bragging. I really think he would have been caught by now.

Now animals-I can see him killing. Like all of those stray cats. Because he used those holes for something.
