Yeah, pretty fucked up, and pretty harrowing.

Remember this was a normal Tuesday morning for these people and all of a sudden they have to react to extraordinary events. They may have trained for hijacks/crashes, but nothing on this scale.
Their mistakes did not kill anyone. The hijackers did that.

United 93 was either shot down or crashed - either way those people weren't getting out of there alive once the hijackers took control. These guys were suicide bombers.
