Do animals have a soul?

Well, the question is larger than that.

Listening to a very boring episode of Smodcats, i learned about this story (itys probably old but whatevz)

Personally i am a non-spiritual person. i dont believe in the idea of a soul, besides religion. so i dont believe animals have it either.

But yet, as an atheist, i can see why a believer could be offended at something like that. If you believe that communion puts you in touch with god, a priest that gives it to an animal is, maybe unwillingly, ridiculing it.

I was actually surprised at beleivers that commented on this fact saying that animals have the same right as humans to participate in religious rituals.

And before anyone brings up the communion on the katg cruise thing, its not the same. Giving communion to non-religious people to share the ritual is one thing. saying that dogs have a soul is a a bit too much. i get it, animals are smart but, cmon.
