I don't recall any "Super Group" that's ever had a huge amount of success. Usually, they put out one or two songs and you never hear about them again. Zwan anybody?

Well, Cream have always been called a supergroup (the first according to wikipedia), and they certainly had success.

:O Is this a one time thing or are they a proper band now?

If so, fuck that. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing a reality show about it.

Clapton was involved in several. Mostly because he's a session guitarist trapped in a rock star's talent. Supergroup is a marketing term, musicians have always collaborated.

It's the supergroups that are put together specifically to be a supergroups that are generally less than the some of their parts. Some record producer will burn in hell for the Traveling Wilbury's.

Did CSNY have any hits before they were CSNY? Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Journey I have no idea, and was there anyone else famous other than whatshisname from Tool in A Perfect Circle.

Velvet Revolver is/was a half-decent supergroup tho.

The Raconteurs are a great "supergroup".

For some reason I have high hopes for Tinted Windows. I'm not really a fan of any of their respective groups, but a mix that fucking out of left field has to be interesting at least.
