IMPORTANT NET NEUTRALITY ACTION ITEM: SIGN PETITION TO FCC
The struggle to maintain an open internet took a blow today with a big court decision against net neutrality.
Sign this petition and send the link to others to have them do the same. The FCC needs to have a strong public reaction to give them the impetus to take action to correct the situation. https://secure.freepress.net/site/Ad...rAction&id=437 |

The theory to some is that Comcast AT&T & the like will nickel and dime you to death on internet services like the Cable companies do on TV. Voip Package 5$, Gaming package 10$, want to use e-mail other than the ISP $10, Want to see NetFlix @ top quality $20, want to VPN into your company thats a $30 teleworker package etc..etc..
then the serious whack jobs say ohh AT&T and Yahoo are in bed so we will intentionally degrade (traffic shaping or Quality of service markings) your experience to Google and Bing so you use their partner. So the FCC wants to say all IP traffic is the same (net neutrality) and remove flexibility from the ISP to look into the traffic and make value judgments on what to prioritize. Like most things it's not black and white the best answer is somewhere in the middle. AT&T/Verizon etc.. should be allowed to say hey you're watching HD video @ 720P for 6 hrs a stretch on NetFlix and affecting our ability to let Sally Soccermom update her facebook page we need to throttle you to be fair to Sally. But they should not be allowed to say hey I'm Comcast I offer a fee based video on demand service so your Netflix traffic is going to be low priority or intentionally degraded so you are encouraged to pay me. Problem is it's difficult to prove the latter so we have the Net Neutrality folks
