From the Libsyn stats wiki:

Your active audience is supposed to give you an idea of your loyal listeners, or the people who are likely to listen to an episode fairly shortly after it is released. These are people who are actively subscribing to or downloading your episodes as you release them.

Total impressions (at the top right of your stats) and overall distribution (below the graph on the right) are numbers representing listens across all time, aggregated for all your episodes. So it just shows you the total volume of downloads your show has produced. Those numbers are based on the LES algorithm, which helps filter out "noise" from failed downloads, misbehaving download clients, etc. It is an "educated guess" at the number of downloads that have occured.
