I don't know, I actually don't have a problem with it. If you've been to midtown, you know street level is all shops and a babillion tourists, there are already tons of cops and tons of private cameras.
There is already no expectation of privacy. Given that, and NYC's high profile for terrorism and the iconic status of Times Square, I don't have a problem with some organization added into the mix of you being watched. I feel the same way about the financial district, you already have no expectation of privacy. If they wanted to put in cameras like this in the village or SoHo or anywhere else that is highly residential and not an icon/target, I would feel very differently. But for now, I endorse keeping crime under the goose stepping heels of "the man", we need those tourist dollars!

The way things are going now in my country, where the scum is pretty much free to do what they want and roam unpunished, the police is non-esistent and the justice sysste is a joke...
Well, i'd give away a good part of my privacy and a couple of rights to have a strict police state. a non-politicized/non-corruptible one. |
