There are a few t hings you can do online and yo uhave a few choices.

Like:
data storage
photo sharing
blogging
email
news readers
greeting cards
where you buy music

Like I use Apple's .Mac for storage and email
I use google for gmail, google talk and google desktop search
I use spymac.com for my photo hosting and blogging

I'm looking for some new pay / free alternatives. any other alternatives that you guys use you can link me to?

I use flikr and photobucket for pictures, youtube for videos, gmail, i dont blog, and anything else i usually just throw up on the free webspace i got form my ISP.

to answer your initial questions:
- i have a flickr account for the pics and crappy drawings.
- a myspace account for the buddy buddy crap, and nowadays also kind of use it to send mails and try to sell some of my crap.
- a hotmail account that i check every now and then, but also use for msn messenger and pretty much every site that needs registration.
- an actual domain website as a portfolio and blog, this also has unlimited mail storage, but sadly enough racks up about a 1000 spammails per week.
- i used to have an lj and a blogger site as well, but those things never seem to last. it's just easier and more logical to post on my own site.
- and ofcourse there are a few forums to spill my guts.
