BootCamps
Has anyone tried a bootcamp style fitness regimen? I am wondering about results and feedback from people that have done one.... I wonder if dropout rates are the same as gyms?

I've done 3 different bootcamps through my gym. It was 1 hour classes, 3x a week and I was going WW at the time. The first time I lost 18# in 6 weeks. Slightly above the average per week for suggested safe weightloss. But I loved it because it was always a different workout. It works the whole body. And the trainers are watching you to make sure you're doing the exercises right.
The 2nd time I only lost 10#. The 3rd time I blew out my knee the 2nd class... so yeah... I dropped out and went back to the live of a boozehoundy marshmellow pig. |

ruuuuuuuun!
Just run, it's not any more complicated than that(unless you have bad knees). Run 4 miles(less than an hours time) three times a week and thank me in three months. I will gladly accept half the money you would have spent on boot camps and gyms and personal trainers, just send it via paypal! Won't be refused, that's a promise! Go look up the body for life thread... |

I have done them, and learned that it helps to have some sort of conditioning ahead of time. You should definitely run, like Spooky says, but make sure you are stretching and getting good deep breathing exercises in. You will get overwhelmed easily if you are not ready otherwise.

I run about 20 miles a week, but it has gotten me nowhere. Though it could be all the beer and crap food I eat that compensates for the exercise. Just signed up for a bootcamp on the beach here in San Diego. It's free through Go Vavi if anyone is interested.

20 miles a week, are you fatty mcmuffin ass or just looking to trim up? You do this on a treadmill or on the street? Going from not exercising to 20 miles a week and not seeing results makes me want to ask for details, because running is pretty much the one universal truth for getting in shape... |
