I posted it in the trailer thread, but as i did a singular thread for the Jackie Earle Haley casting, i thought this deserved a post of its own.
Again, i think this looks promising. I dont like remakes, but as a new take on the classic, this one looks very impressing. The iconic shots of the original are there. That song that used to drive me nuts when i was a kid (i was a monster fan of the whole saga back then) is there. The claws look fucking insane. But what really got me is (and that's what i expected) that it appears that they're using the whole spectrum of Haley for the charcacter. You get Kruger as the creepy child molester, you see his execution (that looked pretty shitty in its first depiction in the first series), and then you see him as the true Freddy Krueger. Which was a witty bastard, but at first was mostly a fucking menacing shape, that oozed menace, gutted you and then tossed a pitch-black one liner. That was the good version of the charcter, before the sequels turned him into an asshat prankster. And Haley could do it here. And regarding the make up, it looks shitty at first, but it fits. It seems more of what he actually should be: a burn victim, and less of a rubbery pizza topping. Last edited by Junkenstein; 10-02-2009 at 02:24 PM. |

Jason was just an oversized mongoloid. But seriously, it was Haley that sold me. I'm not really into horror anymore, even less into remakes of old horror movies. But i just love Jackie Earle Haley, and if there's someone who could do a decent re-interpretation of this character, it's him. And to think that he used to be a pretty kid... First thing i thought when they attached him to this. It's like the creepy guy from Little Children chopping up that whole waspy neighbourhood...
Seriously, i loved "little children" but i hated every character. Actually Haley was the most human, while still being a fucking creep. But still, if i wanna watch the ultimate in disturbing suburbia movies with chilling pedophiles and pervs, Solondz's "Happiness" still beats them all... PS: Speaking of Freddy, i re-watched "dream warriors". Joy-gasm. Last edited by Junkenstein; 10-05-2009 at 12:42 PM. Reason: de-spoilerized |
