Popular "sayings" that make no sense

Today at work somebody was bitching about the bad weather were going to have during this weekend. Another Co-Worker replied "you cant have your cake and eat it too"

This makes no fucking sense at all!

99.99999999% of the time a person in this world has been given cake they are in fact able and more often than not do in fact eat their cake too.

A lot of sayings make sense and I find can be fun to use. This one drove me mad trying to find any logical sense of it.

That is the definition of food, you have food to eat it.

So just because you eat it, how did you not have it.

When I have cake its cause im going to eat cake, so in what way do I not have both.

Have you ever given someone a piece of cake and they hold the plate and never eat it cause they would rather "have" it.......?

I cant stand people who make a fuss about the change of a number.

Nothing is fucking different, you were all just as excited about the number before that.

the difference between 08 and 09 is 1

The one I can't stand, commonly used by dumb old dudes, is "Have a nice trip, see you next fall!" when you happen to trip or just catch your step. As if it doesn't happen to EVERYONE. As if any more attention needs to be drawn to someone's misstep. As if it's his fucking place in this planet to comment on every fucking thing someone else does!!!!

Wait, what was the question?

I know. And it's not funny making a lame joke because they wrote the cheque wrong for the new year too.

The rule of thumb is English common law - it states that you can beat your wife with a stick no thicker than your thumb.
