they are old kid's video cameras that shot on audio cassette tapes, this cool kinda gutterboxed black and white video

anyone have any of these laying around? id like to get one, they seem really cool. if you have one, dig it out, shoot some video. theres a pretty easy way to convert the old UHF output to RCA here

I remember those- I loved those freaking things. My BestFriend's brother had one and of course... taped him and his girlfriend banging. We found the camera and he was too retarded to take the tape out. First porn I ever saw. Fucking horrible video quality though- practically unviewable. And that was a new tape, new camera, recently shot video.

Spookster! You can get a video camera for $200! That's how much mine was. It's got zoom and all kinds of stuff on it.

If you want something "kitsch'y" (sp?) I got a little P.O.S. camera for The Boy child. It was $28, shoots 2 MP stills and does VGA video. It takes SD cards and actually has a 1.5 inch screen. He has dropped it so many times, it's practically in 5 pieces- but it still works. Got it at Target, tho I haven't seen that particular model in a while.

There were some other Cassette based things too. My TRS-80 had a bad ass cassette tape "hard drive". It was gawd-awful, but at the time it was good enough, eh?

If you want a PXL-2000 here is an ebay auction that ends in 2 hours

Here is another Black and white kids video cam, but this one uses real video tapes (of unknown format) and has a video out

i think the video quality is one of the appeals. and the fact that audio cassette tapes as a medium are still really easy to come by. i have a regular video camera, and my digital camera does video too. id still love to play around with one of these, ive wanted one since about 1995. i just keep forgetting they exist til i see one being used on the street or something like that.

I had one as a kid spookies....I'll check paw's basement...he horded a bunch of my old stuff when I went off to college.

After buying me the damn thing for Christmas they refused to spend more money for extra tapes. So all I filmed was my class bday party in 4th grade. Where I caught everyone's reaction to my gangsta-ass camera. It was alot of "Look with your eyes, Not with your hands".

I thought that the poor quality was gonna be one of the appeals. Have you looked at Make Magazine? I seem to remember that they had a "Build Your Own" video camera at one point.

Did you bid on the ebay one?

Cannot find. Been hunting, but all I see are a bunch of "Hack a CVS disposable camcorder" pages. And "Make a balloon gps camera" and "Make video glasses" and "$15 USB microscope" stuff. Nothing useful.
