Semester Abroad in Europe

So I'm going to be studying abroad in Europe (specifically in the tiny village Well, in the Netherlands) over the next semester, and I was wondering if any KATGers had any suggestions on places to visit, travel tips, or if anyone wanted to meet up. I'm going to be in Europe from January 20th to April 20th. I'm super excited, but also kind of nervous because well I have never had to plan my own trips before. Nevertheless any thoughts?

Thanks,
Fake Mike

I spent 3 weeks last summer traveling around Europe.

The most popular bits of Europe (Rome, Paris, London etc.) are modern cities, and are becoming more and more alike. If you want to see different cultures travel around Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia etc. It's not as dangerous as it sounds, and is way cheaper than the tourist traps cities.

If you have the time, or the money, I'd seriously recommend getting an Interrail ticket. It's basically a continental train ticket that last from between 2 and 4 weeks. It lets you go to most places in Europe, and you can save money on hotels by sleeping on the sleeper trains overnight.

Afraid I don't know much about the Netherlands. The best thing about it, I'd guess, is that it's in Europe and close to so many other countries!

Mini Bump?

Also @michaelcollins I was considering the train ticket, but I'd rather spend time in the city than in transport, and if I book the right tickets its going to end up being about the same amount, but with more time saved by using RyanAir or things like that. I know there is more people who are from Europe to listen. Does anyone want to see Doug Stanhope with me onn April 2nd in London?

Learn at last a few phrases in the local language. Yes, everybody will speak English, but people will open up so much more if you show them that you've made even a little effort. They won't care if you mangle everything.
