So, anyone else dealt with the 'World Financial Group'?

Holy fuck!

Hercircus and I were invited by a friend to come to a seminar at her new job to see what it was about and possibly become clients of hers and possibly have her help us with our financial situation. Being the good supportive friends we are, we went.

Just pulling up to the building I got a very bad feeling about the place. It felt very "culty". Large building, not many windows, and as soon as we walked in we were pounced on with sales pitches with promises of "a better life".

Then the hour long presentation began with a slick guy in a fancy suit with a rags to riches story. Basically, every sign pointing to shady shit, and very poorly concealed shadyness if you ask me.

After it was done we got the fuck out of there. It was one of the creepiest things I've experianced.

Anyone else had dealings with these guys? And if so, do you know how they operate behind the scenes, and are able to coax otherwise intelligent to leave well paying, respectable jobs (our friend WAS an engineer) for this obvious, pyramid scheme bullshit?

I either dealt with them or someone like them when I was desperate for a job in college. As soon as I got there, it was obvious I was 1. new 2. young 3. broke. People circled me like hyenas. It was very culty and freaky and I realized immediately that this was not the 'training session' I had been told it was. I made a dumb excuse and left before the seminar.

To be fair, I've always been a paranoid cynic, so I'm looking for someone to fuck me over, especially in that type of situation. In fact, going to a job training seminar in the evening, in an empty business park, I was kind of worried that I was about to get raped. But I was desperate for a job, so I waited in the parking lot and stayed on the phone with my brother until it looked legit.

Those people were really good looking and well dressed, and I guess if I wasn't busy realizing that they were trying to trick me, I'd think they were pretty happy. Sometimes people are just looking for someone to tell them what they want to hear. Denial will do the rest.
