Speech impediments.

How many other people have them?

I had a really bad stutter that started around the time I was in elementary school. Kind of embarrassing during high school. I'd read things aloud slowly everyday after school. My last little while in high school, it started to become near unnoticeable. I still talk really quickly unless I consciously try to talk all normal, though, so what I say is still unintelligent half the time.

By the way, Keith, why can you say A and E, but have trouble with those sounds in words? Is it not possible to say A-ER and E-ER? Don't change, though, 'cause it's funny hearing stories about drunk bears when all the words sound the same.

I had a stutter as a kid and it eventually went away. Now, this new guy at work has a real fucked up stutter and in a bit of an evil way I listen to him when I can. I'm trying to track down what causes more and less stammering 'cause right now it's a guessing game.

I get some kind of speech impediment when I'm tired, and shit starts sounding jumbled.

I went to a speech pathologist for a little bit when I was in middle school because I have a lisp. I also mispronounce things a lot. I blame the fact that I had massive dental work as a kid and all my teeth are in a completely different place than they were when I was learning to speak properly.

My youngest daughter, who'll be four soon, has had a stammer since shortly after she started talking, it tends to become more pronounced when she has become tired/upset.

There are times where to listen to her it isn't noticeable thanks to some help from a speech therapist, but when something has truly upset her e.g. leaving to return home after spending a week with the grandparents that live about 250 miles away just sets her off again.

On the other hand it can get worse when she gets really excited and happy, it's difficult trying to help her especially when her older sisters aged 7 and nearly 5 don't always give her the opportunity to finish her sentences.

It's not easy but she is getting better.

Is it a speech impediment when a person repeats sentences over and over? Like a whole-sentence stutter? I had a coworker that did that, seemed like whenever he was saying something and needed to think of what to say next, he'd just start all over again. It was fucking annoying.

I don't know, Stuttering Stanley. Why can't you talk like a human being?

I don't really have a problem stuttering, but I do mix up my words sometimes. If I'm talking really fast I tend to do that.

I guess I might as well come out of the closet, too. I stammer, as well. It's not bad, I mean I can completely carry on a conversation, but it's definitely frustrating sometimes.
