Seeing as it was topical on the show - (yet another) review of the Zune compared to the iPod. Just look at all that screen real estate

that the software doesn't support podcasts is a non issue just use juice or another podcatcher to download it and add it to the place the zune software synchronises from.

the really interesting thing about the zune is that it sells for a loss like the xbox does.

I don't think this would work. No way to route the microphones to the phone line. (Unless I'm not understanding how this device works.)

The bigger screen is nice. But, based on the reviews I've seen of the Zune, I don't find it all that impressive.

It goes inline with the handset cord. A headphone mini-jack plugs into the mixing board.

It's how most writers have recorded phone interviews for decades.

Here's a diagram (replace "voice recorder" and instead use mixing board)

There's more expensive options too shown here

I hear you. I dislike products that jump on the band wagon. Where were Microsoft when I needed a portable music player that had an easy to use interface, a cool image and made [me think that] chicks want to jump in bed with me.

But how would Keith and Chemda's voices get sent back to the phone line so they could talk to the person on the other end? I understand that they could just use a handset telephone to record conversations/interviews. But the final product would sound like a phone conversation on both ends. Sound quality wouldn't be as good as the current setup.

Unless, there's an angle to this that I have overlooked.
