King's gotten so engrossed in spooky supernatural devices that he's lost his narrative style.
My favorite King works are "The Stand," "The Long Walk," and "The Green Mile" |

Wow its really amazing how many of you read the same books that I love!
I read a lot (21+ books per year easily) - basically everything that comes in front of my eyes and seems interesting. - Crichton, Robert Ludlum, Dan Brown, Henning Mankell for suspense - Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Jasper Fforde, Janet Evanovich when I need something funny - Ann Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, Diana Gabaldon, Jean M. Auel when I need something easy and cheesy; I love Marion Zimmer Bradley the Darkover books are great but I also really liked the Avalon series - BTW Thanks Rhian for mentioning the "Ravens of Avalon" With all the fantasy books listed I am completely amazed that nobody mentioned the "Wheel of time" series by Robert Jordan yet - this is definitely one of my favourites. I can't wait till the last book is finished! |

Tell me about it - I have been reading Wheel of Time for half my life now as well.
But according to Robert Jordans blog (http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/) he is fighting his illness so I still have hope: In an article on Forbes.com, Tom Doherty, president of Tor Books, said he expects that Robert Jordan will, "submit the final book in 2008 for publication in 2009." |

I still haven't been able to finish it because it's boring me so much. I also thought Cell was shit. He's always done alarmist stuff about technology biting us in the ass, but that one just sounded more like a pretentious old man ranting about how horrible these new fangled cell phone things are and how everyone is so rude today. It wasn't a decent entry to the "zombie" genre. His old man rants in Entertainment Weekly have gotten odd, too. I think he's getting senile. |
