So today's hate:

Finding out that a work colleague who does the same job as you, only a lot worse, gets paid quite a lot more than you, because of length of service and various dodgy bonus payments they still get for work they no longer do. And they have the nerve to wave their fucking payslip under your nose. Cunt.
One of the many things I love about my job -- everyone gets paid the same rate, no matter what. Even from company-to-company (is that hyphenated??) around the country, the hourly rate is pretty comparable.

If "company-to-company" was being used as an adjective it would be hyphenated. You used it as the object of a prepositional phrase, so it is a de-facto noun, and does not need to be hyphenated.

I hope you asked that question in all seriousness, as opposed to jest, because I gave it my all.

Yes, I was being serious. Thank you. Usually I have to make those kinds of decisions in a split second when I'm on the air, and when they're talking at 300 wpm -- when in doubt, I leave it out.

the use of math as an abreviation for mathematics, it should be maths, it's plural.

Ehhhhh...

I say it doesn't matter. It's like the difference between color and colour. Our two countries have developed differently, so we have a slightly different English. For instance, the United States uses dollars; those crazy Australians spend dollareedoos at the corner store. And yet American-Australian relations are cruising along nicely.

Kudos to whoever knows what "dollareedoos" is from.

I correct people because, like Cubby, I enjoy being an annoying jerk, and pointing out other people's mistakes raises my own sense of superiority.
But also because it's right. Also, if English isn't your first language it's even more important that you make yourself understood. However, since I've already had one thread on this subject shut down, I'll try and steer things in a new direction.

It never ceases to amaze me how people fail upwards....

Well, everyone knows this about me, I've just never come out and said as much. I've been online since 1991, done most of my harassing on IRC whilst drunk. Before I had a decent life, it was my favorite pastime.

I can type 300 wpm. Unfortunately it's in my own language.

Does anyone else remember when Christmas didn't start until after Thanksgiving. Two weeks ago I went to a store that already had a fucking Christmas tree put up. I understand that holiday sales fuel the economy but at this rate in five more years there will be commercials that have Santa in them before Halloween is over. As far as I'm concerned we can get rid of Christmas all together. We only need three real holidays.

#1 Fourth of July - Get drunk and play with pyrotechnics

#2 Halloween - Dress like a fool with other fools and get drunk

#3 New Years - Get drunk and get some strange

I hate when I have things to do but instead of doing them I spend an entire night on the forums.

Also, I hate doing things other than sitting on the forums.

My boss held me captive at work until 9:30. Legalities prevent me from asking what I want to ask, so make assumptions and make it happen.
