A hurdle jumped

Something I wrote to Chemda over the weekend;

Quote:
Hey Chemda, I've been listening to your podcast since I got VIP and
just want to give you a virtual high five and nod. They are all so
varied and you really know how to bring out the best of each of your
guests.

I skipped listening to Episode 15: Death when I came to it because I
didn't really feel like setting myself up for getting sad. I've put
off many things since my Dad passed last year and I think it might be
preventing me from getting a bit more closure.

My Mum gave us kids a DVD last Christmas with my Dad playing at one of
his gigs (he was a great solo performer who sang and played guitar for
most of his life). I've still yet to watch it. His beloved guitar that
he used to support our family for over 30 years went to me and I have
not yet even opened the case. I'm scared. Or, I was scared until I
finally gave that episode I skipped a listen yesterday.

Hearing the stories from everyone and the emotions that came with it,
particularly Brother Love, really helped me.
It was very confronting but very comforting too. My Dad passed very
quickly and it caught all of us by surprise. There was no opportunity
to say goodbye with him able to hear it. My wife lost her brother 7
years ago and again, there was no chance to say goodbye. I think that
has been the hardest part to deal with both deaths. That and them not
being able to see our family's kids. Ava got to see him play many
times and lived getting up on stage with him.

Even though I was there when my Dad passed I still think I see him
around, I sometimes look at the music gig guides to look for his name
there as it was for so long. But I'm feeling better day by day. And
now I think I will be able to watch that DVD of my Dad and open his
guitar case to give his guitar a well needed playing. It's going to be
difficult but it will also be very good for me.

So I'd like to thank you again for your podcast and for bringing up a
subject that is so very difficult for everyone to talk about. You have
helped me in so many ways since KATG became a part of my life 7 years
ago and I know I'm not the only who has been helped in such a big way.

I feel like saying Bless You but I'm an atheist so I will say L'Chaim.

Brian
Also, shoutout to Albi

I played the guitar tonight

No strings were broken and it was pretty in tune too. Big moment for me. Thanks again, Chemda and friends.
