As an older aunt of mine used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me."

I love your aunt already.

Oh, and when I say I'm shy, that doesn't mean I yell at people or overcompensate with obnoxiousness.
It means I'm uncomfortable with being center of attention, or in my own skin, really.

Let's face it, shyness is a manifestation of self obsession.

STOP MAKING ME REEVALUATE MYSELF. GAWD!

Well, that being the case I'll stop feeling weird about it. Thanks, KATG! *Thumbs Up*

Well, to be fair, it was a little akward when you asked when I was getting divorced in front of my ol' lady.

I haven't ever dated. I search for girlfriends instead. I have never been on just a single date. (save the cruise crew chick...I don't remember her name) My shortest relationship was six months. There is normally a huge crash and burn at the end because I can't open up. Then I shut down for a couple years. My first girlfriend lasted 3 years...and the shut down depression lasted 4 years.

I have huge social anxiety issues. I know it. I have tried in the past to fix myself, but nothing worked. So, I have resigned myself to avoiding crowds and new people as much as possible.
Almost everyone feels socially awkward most of the time. Some people are just better at dealing/hiding it. You having nothing to fear.

This isn't exactly the benchmark forum for normalcy.

This is an open community made by open people. We all are normal, on a surface level, but we also have insecurities, issues, quirks. The difference is we tell it out loud. That's one of the reasons the KATG show and community are so beautiful, i think. Jeremy's issues are perfectly common and normal,. i had them too, in some form. In social situations i used to get drunk to get over my awkwardness. After a while, things changed, and got easier. I still ache for a relationship. I'm in a pretty long one, and i'm insecure anyway.

We all have that stuff on the inside. It doesnt make us weird. I'm actually afraid of people who say that they have "no problems at all!". You really have to be numb to say that...

Also, when you move, you always go through a bad phase. Same after a big event. The adrenaline rush always has a low, afterwards.
