You guys probably haven't been following the story of Ed Muscare, so here's a recap.

"Uncle Ed" had a kids morning television show back in the day (1970s/80s). Kind of a Capt.Kangaroo type character. He also hosted a late-nite creature feature show on one of the local (Kansas City) TV affiliates.

He was convicted in 1986 in Florida of sexual battery on a 14-year-old boy, which earned him prison time and a spot on Florida's sex offender list. He's also on the sex offender registry in South Carolina, where he now lives.

He recently started a YouTube channel. And when a blogger discovered the disturbing content of the channel, he alerted authorities. SC sheriff's officers showed up at Muscare's home and confiscated his computer.

Former FBI agent Jeff Lanza supports Chemda's view:

"With sexual offenders, we look at that differently, because in many cases sexual offenders are never cured of their problem that lead to their problem in the first place," said Lanza. "So just being on probation isn't the answer. They have to answer to life-long scrutiny in many situations."

The blogger who alerted authorities is himself a victim of molestation. In a blog post today he says he didn't have the public good in mind, but was seeking revenge for what happened to him 40 years ago, plain and simple.

I didn't put Ed Muscare under the spotlight out of a sense of nobility, or as some would be victims advocate, or some wanna be citizen crime fighter. It was payback, pure and simple. That doesn't mean it wasn't a good call, it was. I just don't want to dress it up and make it out to be the beginning of some lifes work. I'm not Simon Wiesenthal, I won't be chasing down child molesters like they are nazis hiding in Central America. I'm not out to steal the limelight from any crime fighters or activists, contrary to what they think. I was just getting some payback for a kid who caught a bad break back in 1967. Now I'm done with it.

Well on the subject of children entertainer who get exposed as filthy fucks, there's always the enlightening example of Paul Reubens a.k.a. Pee-Wee Herman. Indecent exposure AND possession of child pornography.

I still think that Pete Townshend got away too easily. "I'm researching for a book". Bullshit.

I was about to defend pee-wee on the child pornography thing, seeing as the charges were dropped.

But then i read the wikipedia article and, never mind. From Wikipedia, "Reubens later stated that he was a collector of "erotic artwork", a collection that includes films, muscle magazines and a sizable collection of both heterosexual and homosexual vintage erotica,[1] such as photographic studies of teen nudes." If thats your defense, then eesh.

I am and always have been very dubious on the "erotic art collector" issue. I saw a documentary about the owner of the greatest collection of vintage porn stills. He keeps them in a safe deposit and he's shown looking at them with that monocle type of lens. Point is: his expression and demeanor are the same of a pervert, not an art collector.
