I had a math teacher in 7th grade that would sit in the back of the class when he would send kids to the chalk board to do math problems. If you made him mad by doing the problem or whatever, he would throw a chalky eraser and hit you in the back. You would have chalk dust all over you. He was an asshole. I think he's dead now.

Maynard Again? Ya

Just to clarify... I never said Maynard didn't hide during his shows, and I definitely wasn't defending him because it was always the most disappointing part of the show.

I saw him once in Tool and twice in APC and was curious myself why he hid, that just happened to be the reason I had found.

The nice thing about Keith reading the whole comment he was responding to was it became immediately clear that Keith did not understand what you were saying.

The real weird thing about Maynard James Keenan is that there was a time when Tool were a (relatively) normal, if scary, band. He sang out front, leaning over the crowd and all that. So it's not that he has to do it the way he does it now, it's just that circumstance has allowed him to make such demands.

I loved Eddie Brill's (Letterman's booker) stand up about airplanes and phone books and newscasters having the night off, and listening to him on Marc Maron's podcast a week or two ago made me feel stupid enough about that because he seems really embarrassed by that stuff now. So thanks for hammering that home.

That's so sad that Kyle's generation's inspirational teacher reference is Freedom Writers. Not that Stand & Deliver or Dangerous Minds were any good either, but Jesus.

.
I never understood the biblical cult that surrounds Maynard too.

Toiool are a good band, and i like their approach to music as something meaningful and myasterious. Most of the times it sounds pretentious, and it kinda is, but it reminds me in a good way old roc k bands from the 70's that created a mystery behind lyrics and album covers and gave their fans stuff to ponder. it was fun and Tool does it well.

But i never got why Maynard became a deity like figure, and suddenly he can act like a cretin during interviews, make insane demands like a Mariah Carrey of rock or publish shit like the Pus cifer albums and find people that sell it.

King crimson and Mars Voilta do their same brand of intelligent rock, but do not act like they're preachers of a hidden cult.

I still love his voice and lyrics thoug. And his appreciation for Bil Hicks.

I hate to say it but you can't fire that teacher. She lost her temper and true if she doesn't get help there's a good chance the next time she'll hit a kid. The problem is that no one wants to teach anymore. As a single person you can't survive on the salary and not only are you not allowed to discipline the kids but they don't get any at home either. They aren't compensated for the trouble.

That said, there are procedures put in place for a teacher who's losing it. She should have gotten someone to watch the class while she went and calmed the fuck down. She over reacted. But the school may not be able to afford to replace her so she'll keep her job.

I just feel bad for the little girl and am glad the mom wasn't a bitch about it.

*Shrug*

To my ears Lady Gaga sounds exactly like a modern version of ABBA. Same poppy musical crack.
