Why the hell do you think the whole room was cracking up at him every 30 seconds?

And the guests never carry the show Todd, Keith does.
What exactly is your problem with someone having an opinion that differs from yours? I said I didn't find John funny. When it became apparent that nobody shared my opinion, I noted as much.

And if you have a better term for a guest who can be the main attraction without sharing the spotlight with a Patrice or a Dina or a Matt or a phone call from Letters to Penthouse and who doesn't just "uh-huh" his or her way along with Keith's jokes, then please--share it with me. I know the show isn't "Keith Malley Presents..." with a short intro and then the guest is let loose.

But then you knew what I meant, didn't you?

Ay oh, ay oh Todd. Todd, Todd, Todd. We can be buddies again but you know that's not what happened at all Todd. What happened was that you said you didn't like him on the show. Then I said I did like him. Things were civil then Todd, real nice and civil and we were still buddies.

But then it was YOU who couldn't handle peeps seeing things differently to you and so you tried to say everyone who disagreed was "confused" about whether this guy was a good "solid" guest or not who could "carry" a show. Like we're all idiots who don't know what funny is but YOU are the genius who understands funny. Idiots is what you called us Todd. A genius is what you called yourself. And maybe you are a genius Todd, in which case good for you, but calling the rest of us idiots? That's just rude Todd. Rude.

We're not confused Todd. We just thought he was a good guest. All this other malarky about how he made us all laugh and whether he's still be funny as a solo guest is a side issue that you brought up. No one else had brought that angle up so what made you think you could judge whether we were confused idiots about it? The rest of us were just saying he was funny, because the fact is he made A LOT of people laugh. A LOT of people, including the hosts, were laughing A LOT at this guest Todd.

That's all I was saying Todd. Everyone else wasn't confused is all I was saying. You were.

This may not be what you intended to imply, but I already found your tone to be fairly condescending by that point in the exchange.

The words you quoted here are, in fact, words I used. But there was a big ol' "I think" in front of all of it.

This is where you argument falls completely apart. Genius, a word you use here 3 times, does not appear in my comments. Idiots, a word you also use 3 times, also does not appear in my comments.

Um... because this is a forum where fans of a comedy show can state their opinions? And--whoops! There's that idiots word again.

I did listen to the first hour of the show again, to see if I was just in a bad mood or something the first time. And I stand by what I said. I can't speak as to whether Chemda and Keith actually found John funny, but it sounded to me (warning: opinion ahead) as if Chemda's laughs were forced for the benefit of the guest and the show--something she rarely does, and Keith stopped laughing at all--because he never seems to fake laughter. The genuine (in my opinion) laughter didn't start until everyone started commenting during the phone call.

Now, if you found my tone to be rude, I sincerely apologize. It wasn't my intention to hijack this thread with our minor disagreement. But I do think I can be a huge fan of KATG and still not love every single little thing about the show. Others have often found things hilarious that haven't made me crack a smile, and that's okay. I just thought I'd do a quick post to see if anyone else got the same feeling about the show and the guest that I got. Obviously no one did. I'm okay with that, and I will probably continue to disagree with people from time to time.

And I just might post that differing opinion here in the forums.

Haven't you noticed that Keith introduces everything? That he steers the ship? That when something needs to be stopped or redirected it's always Keith who stops or redirects it?
Yeah, you're right about that. I think i misinterpreted "drive the show".

But, still speaking about on-air presence, i cant conceive him doing a show without her (and vice-versa). He starts the discussions and steers them, but she balances him and provides the "voice of reason and empathy" to his toughness.

But yeah, i get what you mean.

Bucho isnt condescending, he's just very smart and humorous, so his articulated posts might sound patronizing to virgin ears, sometimes. But he's really one of the best human beings i know, and there's always kindness in what he says, even when it seems he's taking the piss at you.

Being friends with Bucho makes your life better, dont let internet misinterpretations get in the way.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this episode and digging through the resulting thread here. Although John seems to be nuttier than squirrel shit, I thought he made a great guest. After all, he had some tough competition with Adam Brown showing up and a phone call that brought some real world drama to light. The music wasn't quite my cup of tea, but was still better than what I could create. Same goes for some of the two-minute bits.

With that said, April 15th is less than two months away; I can't fucking wait!

Come ooooooon Todd my man, once you've gone down the "Peeps who have differing opinions to mine are confused" road you don't get to come back with "This is a forum where fans of a comedy show can state their opinions". You just don't get to pull that card anymore. You burnt that All Opinions Are Valid bridge and now you're trying to clamber back onto it? Well look out buddy, the bridge is gone and you're falling into the river of Oopsy.

But that's ok, because I like you Todd, and I'm reaching out my hand to pull you back to dry land and I'll even offer you a blanket and start us a fire and we'll all have some cocoa and marshmellows and have a laugh at this sitcom-like misunderstanding.

First of all, that "idiots" and "genius" business? I thought it would be clear enough from the tone of that whole post that I was exaggerating. Like how I use your name all the time. It's a ridiculous way to carry on. A dumb joke of a way for me to carry on, but a joke nonetheless. But the reason I went ridiculous was because you calling all the peeps who had different opinions to yourself "confused" was ridiculous. You saying that means you implied that you have insight that all of us other posters don't have. Like you're smarter than us. Which may be true in some cases, I know I'm not the smartest dude around this joint, but it just sounds like a douchey thing to say, so I came at you like a spider monkey.

Because in my first response to you there was no condescension at all. There certainly wasn't that intention, there was just my differing opinion. I even agreed whole-heartedly with your sentiment that at the start of the show John was horrible. Whole-heartedly Todd! That's the most heart a person can agree with!

That uncomfortableness was gone real fast and John was cracking the whole room up for the rest of the show, he turned out to be a real gem and I hope like crazy he's on the 75 hour show to do a call-in section.
See? There's no condescension there. That's a gentleman respectfully disagreeing with another gentleman is what that is.

Now, about how much the studio enjoyed John's shenanigans? I may be wrong there. Me being wrong has happened before, many, many times. And you've listened to this show twice now, which is 100% more times than I have. But all I know is to me Chemda's laugh wasn't sounding forced. In fact it seemed like the exact opposite, like her involuntary Myq laugh. Like she was trying not to force herself not to laugh at the guy, and so was I because at the start I was sure he was a douchefuck, but he turned out to be really funny. And Keith seemed to be enjoying it too. Maybe he wasn't lolling but I thought there was a grin in his voice and he was enjoying it.

See, now that that's all cleared up I like you even more now Todd. In fact I feel like we're having make-up sex right now, but the non-gay kind. You know, the kind buddies have.

There's nobody else on the planet I'd rather have as Keith's co-host than Chemda. Not even the great Adam Brown with all the chemistry and history he and Keith have. Chemda is the perfect foil for Keith and he's the perfect foil for her. They're both supertalented on their own and together they make each other even better. It's like actual magic, but without any of that faggy wizard stuff.
