I am the first to admit that I did not all of the replies in this thread, so I am going to throw my useless opinion in. I only know what I heard on the show about this issue. Zero tolerence polices are the only answer in a system where a school, person or entity could be sued for discrimination. I think that in this case the punishment was too much, but, is defacing a huge problem at this school? Were all the students aware of this policy? It is our litigious society that has pushed us to the zero tolernce policy. Teachers should be able to dicipline and punishments should be appropriate to crimes. But in a society where 75% of parents leave it to the schools to raise their children, and then blame teachers when their kids are douches, does this really surprise anyone?
They should have arrested the parents too.

Thumbs up

I can't believe there is so much disagreement here. Take a few of these kids to the can and we'll have clean school desks all over this country! We all know that doodling leads to bigger crimes like gum under the desk and heating up the doorknob with a lighter.

I bet a lot of kids in her school are thinking twice about doodling now so in my opinion - it worked! The teachers are probably still laughing in the break room.

Fake controversy aside - between the doodler, Gary Coleman's waffling, and the pills and dick mayo - this is one of the funniest shows of the year so far.

LOVED IT!

Next time you jay walk, cross the street anywhere but at a crossing, how about police arrest you? It's not an arrestable offense, like the girl's situation. And to make sure people learn not to cross the street like that, let's fine you $1,000,000, fair by your logic.

I bet that will teach people!

What other laws shall we spring on people after the crime, and punish them with?

I think purple is an awful color on white people, lets arrest everyone wearing purple and teach them a lesson common sense should have imparted long ago! And with all the fines, just imagine the good we could do!

/sigh

It should be called the Mexican maid diet.
