I didn't take the poll seriously. I say they make him do a final, deadly trick. For the kids.

so I made my pre-order of the book and noticed the link to Keith's star-crossed book - "Great American Novel"
I remembered the funny/sad stories about the crap publishing company that fucked this all up, and clicked the link to see what the listing looked like. Amazon.com: The Great American Novel (9780595475087): Keith Malley: Books interesting pricing on the 2 available copies. I guess it's a collector's item now? lolz. |

If Keith dies a tragic death or becomes a serial killer, it could become a cult item ("This is the the book he DIDNT WANT YOU TO SEE!!!!")
Until then it's just a despicable scam. |

Funny that you had Scott Sigler on your podcast. I was thinking recently that he's such a big fan of giving away his books, that I couldn't help but wonder what your reasoning was for not following his advice. Admittedly, I agree with Keith and the Girl about selling their book, rather than giving it away, but I just wasn't sure why KATG thought the same way I did.
Also, I'd be interested to know if Scott Sigler feels concerned about the movement of book media to electronic devices since he gives electronic versions of his books away. He never addressed that question, even though he touched on it a little bit. Right now, eReaders just aren't common enough that it's a real threat. Besides, there's always a bunch of people who simply don't know they can get it for free, so they'll ignorantly go out to Amazon. I suppose there's always the possibility of movie deals, though, even if he does give it all away. I generally haven't cared for Scott Sigler as a guest in the past. But, he was much better with the banter this time around. In the past, it seemed like he was on the show simply to promote his book. Admittedly, I'm also a little biased because I'm jealous of the amount of exposure he gets through the show. I'm trying to sell my video game, and getting media exposure is really important. It just seems like he gets primo free exposure through the show; it just seems like it came easy. Admittedly, he certainly does "work it" - going out of his way to befriend bloggers and podcasters and then get on their show/blog. I can name a handful of other blogs or podcasts where he's shown up. ----- www.empiresofsteel.com Last edited by MrBrit; 02-26-2010 at 04:36 PM. |
