Hurricanes
Hurricanes were originally classified by numbers and years they happened. I think it had to do with the fact that people can keep track of names more easily than numbers. It likely also has to do with superstition. If one year hurricane 14 rapes a coastal city and next year you get up to 14, you might not want to use the number again for sensitivity reasons as people are likely to be rebuilding and recovering from the previous year's storm. This was likely an issue when more than one storm was forming.
If a hurricane does the type of damage that Katrina did, or any mass damage, the name of the hurricane is retired and isn't used anymore. Growng up on the coast of Texas (Corpus Christi), we've had a few, Allen, Cilia and I believe Andrew is also another name that was associated with a hurrican and won't be used to identify future storms.

I gotta point out one thing about Shutter Island (SPOILERS FOLLOWING)
I read the book and yes the point is that Di Caprio is insane but the whole process is way more fucked up (at least in written form). He is investigating about a woman disappearing. But he has gone insane after his wife committed a violent suicide after post abortion depression. He is unable to cope with the death of his wife, that he actually feels guilty about and he obsess about it turning it into a murder in his head (he says "she died because i wasnt careful enough" and it turns into "i killed her"). He goes suicidally insane and starts living in a pretend world inside his head A doctor that actually is his friend is given a limit from the clinic: he has to cure the guy or Di Caprio character will be shock treated into coma and lobotomized (yes, it happened in the 30's). So he tries, with help by the stuff to help him go over the trauma, by solving the mistery of hiw wife death and admitting that there was no murder, that he isnt a detective and his wife died of despair. All names, numbers and words in the story are anagrams of other things. After you know the plot point everything makes sense, and the "holes" fill up. It's way far from a cheap trick, way less cheap than 90% of twist stories i've seen and very intelligent. If the movies misses these points it's because something has been left out in the adaptation. But it's NOT cheap at all. |

Keith shit all over No Country for Old Men - I loved it - It's one of my most listened too episdoes.
Does anyone know the episode where he shit on The Dark Knight? It's my #1 movie of all-time. Other opinions never leak into my opinion. I've loved Batman since I was 4 years old. And, I can't believe I'm not considered kosher anymore. WTF. |
