Why is it "a little..eh... not good" to not want your children to gain weight? The world would benefit with more parents like that nowadays. It's a little unfair that your brothers weren't given the same treatment, though; have they always been skinny?

It depends on how they go about it. If they instill in their kids an honest appreciation for good food, only eating when you're hungry, etc., that's fine. But if they make food itself the enemy and give you a complex, then you end up hiding ho-ho's in your closet and getting an eating disorder.

The Central Park Jogger (who has since written a book) was not gang raped by "wilding" youths. Several young black men were railroaded by the state even though there was zero physical evidence connecting them to the crime. The victim herself had no memory of the attack because she was beaten so badly. It turned out that a single serial rapist is the one who did it.

The fact that Keith still remembers this case as one of a bunch of black kids gang raping a white woman is a good illustration of what a bad job the media does when it comes to follow-up stories to set the record straight.

I don't know where Keith is getting this nonsense about the 12 year old girl just being "walked across the street for a few minutes." The walk referred to in all the articles I read was the perp walk out of the school. She was then taken by police car to a local precinct (there's nothing about how far away it was, but nothing about it being "across the street" either) and held for several hours.

I agree that suing for a million dollars is ridiculous. At most she should simply have her record wiped clean. (She was sentenced to community service) And yes, this was a "real arrest."
