as someone whose job requires me to answer phones all day about what new phones we have in stock (mainly the iphone and evo), i gotta say please give that guy at the apple store a break. we cant tell you when we are getting them in stock for four main reasons:
1. i am not allowed, i will get fired.
2. we work in sales, not inventory or shipping so we have only a vague idea f when we are getting shipments.
3. half of those shipments don't come or halve half of the product they said they would.
4. and finally the main reason i cant tell you is because if i do make the exception and say we are getting some in on the 21st you will show up at closing time and say to my manager "hey your customer service rep, Mark i think his name was told me a few days ago that you would be getting iphones/evos in today how come you dont have any?" and then i get fired.

and honestly im not complaining, its my job and im glad to have it, but PLEASE have a heart, i dont control the shipments, if i could get you an iphone/evo today i would, it does you no good giving me attitude, getting angry, and or swearing at me because i cant.

people take their anger out on me all day because im the eighth store they called looking for a god damned phone, get a life.

It's yout job, you get paid fo it. So you should behave. End of story (nothing personbal towards you Hosh, i just think that people who do your type of work, act a little too arrogantly. They should be thanksul they are employed, in these days)

you will notice in my original post i mentioned this. and i agree, my current job however has secret shoppers to make sure we are respectful, although that is not why i behave.
but 70% of the people who call in get angry and take it out on us. we are here to help, we get paid to be nice, we enjoy our job more when we can help you and feel that we have accomplished something. WE ARE NOT HIDING A SECRET STASH OF IPHONES FROM YOU!

customer service people deal with the worst side of people all day every day. their friends and family are not their to judge them, the only me, some nameless drone. people don't treat bums or felons as badly or rudely as they do customer service. yesterday i got called racist because i would not do a return, i get called fag, asshole, and worse because i cant help you get your reward zone points in store. people don't understand why i wont risk my job to save them 3 dollars, man im a jerk.
im a big dude and don't get it as bad in person but i am constantly coming to the rescue of the girls i work with when they are being screamed at by grown ass men in business suits over small stupid shit. ive seen them all cry at least once, one after an old white dude told my female coworker she should be glad he is not raping her because she is Mexican and not a real human, it was over a 30 dollar cable.

Yeah, I'm with you. Having worked a slug of shit jobs (waitressing, McDonald's, receptionist) I would 100% agree that my current job of answering phones is the fucking worst.

I'm happy Chemda is blaming Apple for the iPhone wait - more people need to realise that it's not us personally, the customer service reps, who are keeping the object of their desire from them.

Yes, i totally see your point too.

I mostly meant that i worked at customer service for a while and i used to be much polite than a lot of people who deal with it now.

But customers are way more arrogant today, too.

And this iphone psychosis is insane.

Wow, new cutting edge phone with a bunch of hype that sells a ton isn't easy to obtain. They can only spit out so many chips for these things over in China.

Either buy an older phone that _is_ readily available, or suck it up like all the Apple fanboys do.

With game systems it's the same thing. They either have to invest tens (hundreds?) millions extra so they can make enough, but that's half a year before they even know if the thing will sell. If they just keep the factories rolling like usual they'll still sell their consoles eventually, and they won't need to invest that huge amount of cash.
