Not saying that those talk show people who enjoy spewing hate arent idiots, but they're placed there with a purpose and someone is paying them to push buttons, to be talked about. Last edited by Junkenstein; 08-20-2010 at 11:05 AM. |

Watch what you say
Wow, Dr. Laura. I wonder if she blames the same black activists for the trouble she's in today.
Are black activists breeding hypersensitivity within the black community for perceived racist statements, actions, etc..? What comes first the cart or the horse? Dr. Laura is a fear monger, homophobic, racist etc... That's my short take on her. She represents a growing sense of anger based on fear and loss of power within the country. Wherein non-whites and minorities in general are gaining both political and economic power. These are people who use phrases like "Taking our country back" and hide behind the veil of Christianity. Dr. Laura has a voice and an audience which listens and follows the direction she provides. So what comes first, the cart or the horse? If someone is accused of being racist or prejudice; what action did that person take prior to the accusation? If someone such as Dr. Laura, Rush Limbaugh, Don Imus etc.. has a history of prejudicial and or racist commentary they are likely to be publicly called out on their behavior. If you do something wrong, you can expect to be punished for it. Nobody is calling Dr. Laura a racist because she said she loves big black men. The perception that persons such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are the defacto leaders of the black community is incorrect. They do not represent all black people. That is comparable to saying that Rush Limbaugh is the defacto leader and represents the white community in America. Both Al Sharpton and Rush Limbaugh have a voice. Also, in both cases there are far too many people who listen, follow and act on the voice of these people without any critical thought of their own. It's important to realize they use their voice to inspire fear and get more money. In most respects Al Sharpton parades as an activist but has selfish interests and will quickly take a payoff to cancel his March of the month or latest boycott. Be aware of the things you say. You are held accountable.

Question, if we went to Tanzania with very pale guys (like serial killers or rapists) with pink contacts and wigs, could we sell them as bootleg albinos?
I smell a market move. |

I agree. But being homophobic is still way more acceptable in this country than being racist. If she had said "faggot", she would have gotten a backlash, but it wouldn't have been from her target audience. Homophobia is acceptable in ultra-conservative circles. Being a racist isn't acceptable at all, so I'm surprised she outed herself as one. Either way, she's still a cunt and I'm glad that her audience heard her act like one.

And it hasnt to do with politics or religion. The majority of males i know, even the ones raised by non-religious, progressive families would have issues if they declared that they're gay to their families. Plus most of the males in any country that is not New York, have to overcome an awkwardness towards homosexuality that just comes from how you been raised. Being the son of a homophobe, i had a hard time getting thorugh my head the notions of open sexuality. And i'm not gay. I have shivers only thinking what a hell of a life i'd have if i was. There's community behind both groups, but as vocal as the gay community is.... The black community is stronger now. And it includes homophobes. As a broader example.. a racist comedian would be outrageous, a homophobic comedian is funny to most. |
