Like the attitude a lot of Americans have against muslims that allows for what has happened/is still happening at Guantanamo Bay. It's okay, because we are looking for the terrorists.

What's next? Forcing communications companies like RIM and large US companies to hand over encrypted information and provide a "backdoor" so that law enforcement agencies can seize and decrypt communications between US citizens? India, Dubai and other countries are forcing RIM to provide this level of access to users in their countries for the sake of being able to find terrorists.

Technically, there is a German race. Race is:
2: a family, tribe, people, or nation belonging to the same stock
b : a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics
3 c : a category of humankind that shares certain distinctive physical traits

There is definitely a German race. I am not saying the myths propagated by Nazism are true, but there are genetic and cultural distinctions that can be made between countries such as Germany where a people have resided in an area for a very long time.

People don't see much of a difference in white races today because of a familiarity with ethnic diversity, but the ancient Romans sure as shit saw racial differences between them and the peoples of northern lands such as what would become Germany.

But there's a difference between recognizing genetic differences in people and trying to engineer blame to fit somebody's race.

That example comes right to mind, but it's a slippery slope, since the relationship between muslims and the western civilization has had atrocities committed by both sides (and both side victimize each other, maybe not in equal proportion but i have a hard time seeing muslims as innocent victims)

Slavery and apartheid could be a better examples. Or the massacre of the native americans during colonialism. Or any action by the British Empire. Or Italy's fascism.

Genocide is a part of any expanding civlization (and with that word i mean "empire" or "expanding nation"). It's horrible and it's recurring, as it's a manifestation of power and the most common trait in humans which is hate. Which is way more common and easy to spread and apply than love or tolerance.

There was arguably a group of humans that you could call "Germanic people" (according to Wiki the ethnic groups of North Western Europe: the Finland-Swedes, Germans, English, Dutch, Swedish, Flemish, Danish, Norwegians and Icelanders) but that has basically nothing to do with the country that now happens to be called "Germany".

All true. I think I mixed two points: 1) that European races could see the difference between each other, and 2) that groups of people can have genetic and cultural ties despite being marginally different from a neighboring group.

I'm not saying you can trace modern Germany back to Roman times; of course you can't. But just as there were races then, there are races now, even if the differences are slight.
