From what I've seen, reality TV today often involves a lot of people putting up a front--a girl that people say can be bitchy sometimes decides if she plays it up, she can be THE BITCH--so that they're more likely to get on the show, and if they're not good enough when the cameras are rolling--editing can do wonders.

I think shows like Jersey Shore and possibly Sarah Palin's upcoming show are unique and more treasured because it just doesn't seem like they're not trying to do anything different--they are, like Keith's said, full-on retards with no idea of what they're doing, and they don't have to do nearly as much goading or editing to make them comical characters as you would for your average humanoid.

Keith and Kyle's analyses of You Can't Tell the Difference After Dark and Till The Cows Come Home disregard the social context in which their lyrics were created. Alberta Hunter and Lucille Bogan performed during a time long before the Civil Rights and Women's Suffrage movements had empowered black women in our society. Music was the only means by which one could express his or her discontent with social conventions and I believe these women utilized that medium effectively.

Although Keith's comments were clearly comedic, Kyle affirmed his ignorance and bigoted attitude by marginalizing the well-known racial divide that existed throughout U.S. history and especially during the early 1900s.

I think it's pretty ignorant of you to assume anyone under 25 gives a shit what happened in the 1900's.

You're probably one of those douches who calls people racists when they say they were "gyped" even though hardly anyone even knows it's a reference to gypsies.

Bigotry and racism are different concepts. I was implying more stupidity than racism.

As opposed to todays music where black women (and women in general lest I be grouped into the KKKyle J Thompson clan) have benefitted from suffrage and civil rights and still sing about giving blowjobs, how good their pussy is, and how much cock they can get like social activists Lil Kim and Kerry Hilson do. This is stupid, and someone always has to be a buzzkill. That whole bit was awesome because I never would have found/heard those records, and known that history, and, as is always utmost, it was funny. Calm down, although calm monkey doesn't have the same ring to it...

And dammit, Angry Monkey has a name! It's... uh... hm, I should know this, I mean it's right up there in my own post... I could just scroll up... oh well, I guess we'll never know Angry Monkey...

I'm also going to guess the songs are more along an exploitation genre to get sales than any sort of empowerment, the singer in the second song even seems to almost laugh towards the end. Illuminati's just being a fagin.
