I just pictured a city overrun with raccoons. They can open doors and jars because they nave opposable thumbs. Or something similar.

I expect McDonald's have worked out exactly how many times a day their customers can eat there before the ensuing death rate would begin to reduce the company's profits. The actual number is probably lower than three times a day, but that's just my guess. I'm sure they're well aware that they can milk more money out of someone who lives to 65 than a 600-pound gastropod whose heart explodes at 28. The one who dies at 65 is also in a better position to breed and teach two generations of offspring to eat at McDonald's, providing further profits.

The tobacco industry probably led the way in this kind of actuarial calculation.

I know I'm a little late to the discussion but I had a job a few years ago that had me driving all over the country and Detroit is by far the worst city I've ever been in. Empty factories and buildings are everywhere that are missing all their windows so it looks like a wasteland down town.

For some reason there is a big gleaming baseball stadium(Tiger Stadium) in the middle of town that looks like a jewel in a turd. I unfortunately had to go to the jail to pick up some inmates and there is about 20 guys to a holding cell with about 10 holding cells. Except for the cops I never saw a white person the whole time I was there.
